Ex Suns draft pick spends $1.6M in Paradise Valley

Medium 8ce1c86d53837ec2a8d97c67532880a0 Iakovos Tsakalidis and his wife, Veronica, bought a five-bedroom, 5.5-bath home at 6940 E. Doubletree Ranch Road in Paradise Valley from Sunwest Financial Development for $1.6 million on Feb. 9.

The 1,991-square-foot house was built in 1970.

Tsakalidis is a professional basketball player who currently plays with the Greek professional team Olympiacos BC. He played in the NBA from 2000-2007 with the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets.

He was drafted in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft by the Suns and spent three seasons with the team. His best season was in 2001-02, when he started 47 games and averaged 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds.

Traded to the Grizzlies prior to the 2003-04 season, Tsakalidis saw limited playing time in the rest of his career. In 2007 he signed with Olympiacos.

There were 152 sales in Paradise Valley in 2008, with a median sales price of $1.775 million.
